What Surfshark Antivirus is
Surfshark Antivirus is a consumer security application that scans your device for malware and monitors files and apps in real time. According to Surfshark, it is designed to be lightweight, running scans without heavily consuming CPU or RAM, and it updates its detection database regularly through a cloud-based service. It is not sold on its own — it is included in the Surfshark One subscription bundle described below.
What the Surfshark One bundle includes
Surfshark Antivirus is available only as part of Surfshark One. According to Surfshark, the bundle combines several tools under a single subscription:
- Antivirus — malware scanning and real-time protection for Windows, macOS and Android.
- VPN — an encrypted connection; Surfshark states the VPN can be installed on unlimited devices across Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS and browser extensions.
- Alert — notifications if your email or personal data appears in a known data breach.
- Search — an ad-free, private search tool.
- Alternative ID — a feature for generating an alternative online identity to reduce exposure of your real details.
Antivirus features
Surfshark lists the following features for the Antivirus component. Availability of individual features can differ by platform:
- Real-time protection — monitors apps and files as they are downloaded, installed and used.
- Manual and scheduled scans — run full or quick scans on demand, or set them to run automatically; a drag-and-drop scanner lets you check individual files.
- Webcam protection — alerts you if an app or website tries to access your camera.
- Ransomware shield and Cloud Protect — additional layers aimed at protecting sensitive data, with database updates delivered through the cloud.
- Web protection — blocks malicious websites in real time. Surfshark notes this feature is currently available on Windows only.
Supported platforms and devices
According to Surfshark, the Antivirus app runs on Windows, macOS and Android, and the Surfshark One bundle covers up to 5 devices for antivirus. Surfshark also notes hardware and OS requirements (for example, minimum supported versions of each operating system), so it is worth checking that your devices are compatible on the official site. The bundled VPN supports a wider range of platforms, including iOS and Linux, than the antivirus app itself.
Things to check before you buy
- Bundle only. You cannot buy the antivirus separately — it comes with the full Surfshark One subscription, so you are paying for the whole bundle.
- Platform gaps. The antivirus app does not currently cover iOS, and some features (such as web protection) are Windows-only.
- Pricing and renewal. Introductory prices often renew at a higher rate. Check the current price, the billing term and the renewal price before subscribing.
- Refund policy. Surfshark advertises a money-back guarantee; confirm the current terms and time window on the official site.
- Independent reviews. If you want third-party test data, look up independent reviews (for example from established testing labs and publications) rather than relying on any single advertisement — including this one.
